Steamboat Arabia Museum Exhibit on Mormon Migration, Kansas City, Missouri

arabia2The MHSF established a permanent historical exhibit in the Steamboat Arabia Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. The exhibit includes photographs historical interpretive information, and a 12 minute orientation film documentary, “Journey to Zion.”

The exhibit highlights Mormon transmigration on the Missouri River, providing information about the Latter-day Saints who traveled on the Missouri en route to Utah to gather with the main body of the Saints. Fred E. Woods, executive director of the Foundation coordinated the project with Greg Hawley, co-owner of the museum.

steamboatarabia1The Steamboat Arabia Museum houses the largest number of steamboat cargo artifacts in the United States and is one of the most popular educational and historical attractions in the Kansas City area. Since it’s opening in November 1991 over a million patrons have visited the museum.
